April Ross
April Ross has won more than one Olympic medal. Ross is among just a handful of female beach volleyball players who achieve this feat. Alix Kallineman will play alongside April Ross in Tokyo to take home her third gold medal in the coming days. In addition, Ross will be aiming for the first Olympic gold. This could be the final opportunity for her as she is 39 years old. She is nevertheless confident that winning the gold medal is in reach. If we can perform to our highest and even perform properly, I'm sure we can get that gold medal Ross declared on NBC Boston. So I'm going to take a little bit of luck too. Ross had her birth on August 22, 1982, at Costa Mesa California. She resided there with her family. She then went on to compete in numerous sports during her time at Newport Harbor High School. She participated in basketball and track in addition to her indoor volleyball exploits during her prep time. She clearly was the top in the game of indoor volleyball. While in high school she was a middle blocker, outside hitter and setter on the volleyball court as per her school bio. Her achievements were acknowledged with her selection as the 1999 Gatorade Circle of Champions National Player of the Year. In addition, she was awarded the 2000 Orange County Athlete of the Year trophy for volleyball. Ross and Klineman are continuing to play as of 2017. However, Ross was already a respected player in the world of beach volleyball prior to Klineman and Ross joined forces. She's won big tournaments twice with different partners. A couple of those is an icon of the volleyball world. She partnered up with Jennifer Kessy from 2007-2013, and she also served as Klineman and Kessy's coach. Together together with Kessy Ross, the duo won a World Title in 2009 as she raced on the international circuit. They also won the Silver Medal at the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. The legendary Misty Maytreanor team and Kerri Jennings won the gold. The fate of the matter was that Ross became Walsh Jennings' new partner when May-Treanor retired. The two went on earn the beach volleyball bronze at the Rio Olympics in 2016. Ross was a college player at USC Trojans prior to beginning making the jump to professional. She starred during high school, and in some years prior to getting on the beach to become a professional. In fact, her time through the institution was an impressive one. In 2000, as a freshman she earned Pac-10 as well as NCAA The Freshman of the Year recognition and earned an All-American. Her performance also assisted in helping the Trojans to make it to in the Final Four. After her sophomore year, she went through a heartbreaking personal loss but still successful in being named an All-American. Over the course of her final two seasons she led the Trojans to the top of the mountain and took home consecutive national championships. She was a great athlete, winning the Honda Sports Award in 2003-04 as the college's top female volleyball player. Ross studied the field of international relations in USC. Margie Ross didn't see her daughter rise to the top of the beach volleyball world. Ross lost her mother due to breast cancer back in the year 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. Her mother is still very dearly. Margie remains a constant source of inspiration for her in and out on the beach.
