April Ross

April Ross, a beach volleyball star in the US she is part of the elite category of females who have had medals won in many Olympics. In Tokyo over the next few days she will attempt to win her third gold medal alongside fellow first-time Olympian Alix Klineman. Ross hopes to win something more than just her first Olympic medal. The next opportunity for her as she is 39 years old. However, she's confident that the top awards are at hand. If we perform at our very best or even if we play very well, I think we'll be able to win that gold medal Ross spoke of via NBC Boston. So I'm going to take a little bit of luck and hope for the best. Ross had her birth on August 22nd, 1982 on the outskirts of Costa Mesa California. She lived there with her family. She went on to compete in a myriad of sports during her time at Newport Harbor High School. She played basketball and ran track in addition to her volleyball skills in the indoors in her time as a college athlete. As a finalist in her sport, she clearly stood out. During her high school career she played middle blocker outside hitter and setter on the volleyball court per her college bio. The effort was recognized with her being named 1999 Gatorade's Circle of Champions National Player of the Year. Also, she won the 2000 Orange County Athlete of the Award for volleyball. Ross and Klineman are doing what they do since 2017. However, Ross was already an established participant in the beach volleyball scene before the pairing. She has won major events with different teams. A couple of those is an icon of the volleyball world. Between 2007-2013 she played with Jennifer Kessy who more recently served as her and Klineman's coach. Kessy and Ross were a formidable force in the world of professional sports, winning their first world title in 2009. The two eventually clinched an Olympic silver medal during the 2012 Olympic Games in London. The legendary Misty Maytreanor team as well as Kerri Jennings were the winners of gold. Ross Jennings was Walsh Jennings partner in fate after Maytreanor's retirement. They were awarded the bronze medal at the beach volleyball competition in the Rio Olympics the year 2016. Ross participated in the Trojans from USC during college years after she graduated the high school she attended. The time she spent at USC was awe-inspiring. Her achievements included an All-American and Pac-10 freshman of the year in the year 2000. Additionally, she assisted her Trojans to reach the Final Four. The second season of her career, she was devastated by a personal loss, yet was capable of being selected as an All-American. After two more seasons with the Trojans the team, she played a key role in helping win consecutive championships. In her own way Ross established her status in the history books by winning the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. The award went to the most outstanding female player from the United States. Ross was an international relations major at USC. Margie Ross did not see her daughter reach the top of the field in volleyball. Ross lost her mother to breast cancer in the year 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. She continues to hold her lost parent near and close. Margie remains an inspiration while on the beaches and all throughout her life.
