Jeanie Marie Buss has been an American entrepreneur for over twenty years. She is the President and controlling owner of Los Angeles Lakers in the National Basketball Association. Buss, who is born in California, was raised in an extremely wealthy family. Jerry Buss, her father was a businessman with a real estate business who later eventually became the proprietor of Lakers Sports and Entertainment. When her parents split in 1972 and she started to feel as if she was abandoned. At the age of 19 she was able to take over her role as General Manager of the Los Angeles Strings professional Tennis team as the General Manager. Later, she founded in the Los Angeles Blades, a professional team of roller hockey. In the beginning, she was vice president of Lakers before she assumed the role of President of Great Western Forum. Buss along with her five sisters and brothers, as well as their father, who owned the Lakers and ruled them until his passing away in 2013, received this ownership by way of a trust.
